Dear Friends and Neighbors:
It’s hard to believe that another holiday season is upon us and that 2020 will soon be here. There is nothing like being home for the holidays in a special place like Southlake. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I encourage all of you to take advantage of the time to plan celebrations, gifting, lights and especially food.
As I have traveled about the neighborhood this fall, I’ve marveled at the wonderful fall colors reflecting mirror images on our lakes. Combine this with our deer, ducks and geese, and we truly live in a gallery of beauty. Our recent acquisition of the Cahaba River Conservation area will provide even more marvels to enjoy. Did you know that the Conservation area contains over 140 plant and animal species?!
It’s been a good year for Southlake as again we have had adequate rainfall to keep our lawns, gardens and common areas green. We still are dealing with the damage the 2017 drought did to our lovely trees, but through the efforts of our residents and the Business Association we have been able to keep up with the removal of the dead trees. We also have been able to start a new website www.southlakehoover.com. Obviously, these greetings have reached you through the website but if you have neighbors who have not yet signed up please give them the website, so they can keep up with all things Southlake.
Finally, if you are looking for a way to add more meaning to this time of giving, one of our neighbors in The Estates is looking for someone to drive him (using his car) on errands as he has reached a point in his life where he can no longer drive. If you want more information about this need, please contact me at southlakedirectors@gmail.com
As I complete my third year on the Board of Directors, I’m continually impressed by the skills and energy of our board, citizens and neighborhoods. It’s an honor to serve you as we continue together to make Southlake the best place to live in Hoover!
Respectfully,
Southlake Board of Directors President 2019
